10 Sizeable Indie Brands You Probably Didn’t Know

Shopping as an oversized 3X can be really tough. Big brands almost never have included sizes, and if they do, those sizes are definitely not sold in stores. This is where independent brands have contributed a lot to the plus size community. They are meeting a need in the market that many big brands don’t reach.

So what we did was put together a few included size independent brands that you should know about and have been on our radar for a while! And what’s interesting is that a wide range of individual styles are represented, from subtle and sweet to out-of-the-ordinary and playful!

10 Indie brands including size to know

first. Design Terrance Williams

The owner, Terrance Williams, is a self-taught plumber and offers sustainable clothing and accessories. His dusters and caftans are absolutely breathtakingly beautiful because of the unique fabrics used. The best part is that they are made to order based on customer measurements.

On his website, he describes his designs as all-inclusive and gender-neutral. Terrance state, “I wanted to create a brand where inclusivity comes first. Fashion can be very restrictive and exclusive. I want to create a safe space where people feel beautiful in my clothes and accessories. People who wear plus size and plus size will never feel like a burden.”

2. ShopTaby and Taby Originals

ShopTaby was started by Taby Davila, a curvaceous Latina who feels underrepresented in the oversized fashion space. She wants to create a space where people of all identities feel represented.

The designs are bright, colorful and come in sizes XS-5X, with the hope of future expansion to XXS-6X. Taby Originals for their original designs because of size restrictions on the wholesale market.

Alex and Tianshi are the co-founders of Shiny By Nature. As a plus size woman, Alex has always struggled to find colorful and fun clothes that fit her size, it’s a struggle we can all empathize with!

4. Lauren of Palm Springs

Lauren of Palm Springs is inspired by old Hollywood. They offer flashy, ornate items for everyone – him, her, or them. Their motto is “Something with a lot of good things is great!”

5. Evan Biddell

Evan Biddell is the first winner of Project Runway Canada, designer of Project Runway Allstars and a guest of Drag Race Canada. His signature product is the playsuit, a flying squirrel jumpsuit that inspires movement and creativity for every body shape.

From personal experience, these playsets are an amazingly appropriate size thanks to the pleats and cuts. Sizes are listed by height, due to their design, but Evan has recommendations for upsizing if you’re oversized.

6. Nerecina

Nerecina is an all-in-one-size-fits-all fashion brand that offers customizable and sustainably produced formal wear to make a statement. Their designs are unique and timeless.

Nerecina’s goal is to change the way women shop by creating stunning, unique designs using luxurious fabrics, eliminating categories and ideals, and providing customization options. for every item sold.

Their sizing included formal dresses are beautiful and are offered in custom sizes based on customer measurements. Recently, they collaborated with Dia & CoGive customers another option to purchase.

7. peridot’s robe

All of their gowns are made in Los Angeles in fair-paying tailors and from scraps of fabric. “All fat girls deserve love and comfort, we prioritize members of our community who don’t have any other options available to them.”

8. trash queen

Paige is the owner of Trash Queen, taking care of all the design, prototyping and prints, sketching the collection, and styling the pieces. She really wants to make a difference in the lives of oversized, disabled and LGBTQ people in relation to fashion.

Paige also wants to continue to add variety in clothing – adding more sizes, adding petite and tall ranges, and someday customizing sizes. Paige’s partner, Alison, handles email handling, quality assurance, fulfillment, and delivery.

Miranda Sharp is the creator of Softcore, size XL-5X. Softcore is an alternative lifestyle brand for plus size people of all genders. She created all the right sized designs herself.

Miranda stated, “I wanted to create a product line where fat people are prioritized and celebrated, especially weirdly fat people like me. Fat people are portrayed as very one-sided in the media and I wanted to show that we have all kinds of tastes and can become alternative fashion icons! I make art and clothes to show fat people that we can be ethereal fairies or gothic witches. We can stand out and be the protagonists of our own stories.”

The owner was recently featured on Good Morning America, showcasing her story and passion for plus size fashion! Not many places offer stores up to 6X in size, but if you’re in North Carolina you definitely need to come see them in person!
