1,000 poppies line front of Peterborough Retirement Residence – Peterborough

A Peterborough retirement house was crammed with poppies to mark Remembrance Day on Thursday.

For the previous two months, residents at Peterborough Retirement Residence designed, colored and lower the colorful cardboard poppies in preparation for Remembrance Day. The “Poppy Undertaking” was a partnership with space colleges, church buildings, seniors centres, residents, households and workers.

“It’s a venture that’s honouring the veterans of Peterborough and our residents,” stated Kathleen Gordon, the house’s director of group relations.

On Thursday morning, 10 workers members at 7:30 a.m. distributed 1,000 poppies on the entrance garden of the house on Water St. The poppies comprise messages for residents. They are going to be eliminated on Thursday night.

Three veterans at present reside on the house, Gordon famous.

“Our residents, workers and members of the family all really feel very honoured to be honouring these veterans of the group,” she stated.
