14 Wii Games That Need Port Switching

It’s been 15 years since the Wii came out and the world has known for a variety of delights including Wii Sports, waggle games, and Wii elbow. That little trick box the size of three DVDs has yielded some real gems over its long life – many of which are specifically designed for remote-style motion controllers. system’s creation and nunchuk and will not work the same on any other platform.

Well, that’s not completely right, right? Your Nintendo Switch side-sliding Joy-Con controller has all the gyroscope motion-sensing gubbins needed to realistically control any Wii game. In fact, we’ve seen a ton of previous Wii exclusives on the Switch, including all-time classics like Super Mario Galaxy, Chronicles of Xenoblade, and World of Goo, the first two games in No more heroes series, HD port of Legend of the heavenly sword zelda, and sublime Okami HD (okay, we’re cheating with that one when it launches on PS2, but the Wii port is a good one).

However, we gamers are nothing if not perpetually disgruntled and lame, and there are so many great Wii games we’d love to see give a different life on the Switch. This is a non-exhaustive list of gems – in no particular order – that Team Nintendo Life will handpick for a Switch port if given the opportunity. The exclusion Super Mario Galaxy 2 are from Super Mario 3D All-Stars cause collection no end question and general upheaval with Mario fans because of the equally well-reviewed sequel and our personal favorite between the two daily changes. The Galaxy 2 isn’t simply ‘more the same’ – it takes the baton from the first game and runs with it to infinity and beyond.

Excite Trucks is an underrated gem in the early Wii era, with satisfying motion controls that blend wonderfully with the stunning physics of the arcade monster trucks you raced. This sequel retains video game sensibilities and challenging terrain but switches to trucks for on-wheel robots. It’s a great game and was never released in Europe, so we’d be delighted if this showed up again on Switch.

The game defined a console thanks to its (as well as very good) packaging, Wii Sports‘the included motion control game would be a great match for the Switch given its local co-op focus. These elements have arrived on the Switch in modified form, with similar Golf and Bowling activities available in Clubhouse games: 51 classics from around the world. And of course there’s always Mario Tennis Aces and Mario Golf: Super Rush, but they’re not quite as accessible and accessible as Wii Sports’ super-simple approach.

Whether it will be a Deluxe product with Wii . Sports Resort activities include, or may be, a partial product released as another sweetener for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers – potentially including online elements offsite from the Wii U port, Wii . Sports Club – this is an evergreen game that is sure to work well again on the Switch.

Canada’s Next Level Games Studio is now completely under the Nintendo umbrella after being acquired by the Kyoto company in 2021, and that’s with great games like Mario Strikers pair, Luigi’s Mansion 2, and Punch-Out!! that they have secured Nintendo’s continued support and hard-earned trust. This is a beautiful update of the arcade/NES/SNES series with great animations, optional motion controls, and lots of characters.

With original The Japan-only classic is now available to play on Switch as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, now is the perfect time to bring back the stellar sequel to Treasure. Sin and Punishment: The Star Successor truly lives up to its name, with innovation, stunning settings, and some of the best shmup action coming from a developer with incredible form in the field. We’d love to see it fly again in HD.

At some point, we’ll get it soon House of the Dead remake on Switch, and we’ve had plenty of time for this spin-off, which first debuted on the Wii in 2009. House of the Dead: Overkill has a B-movie and cinematic spirit that exploits the bleeding from every open wound and was an utterly bloody delight when we first shot through it over a decade ago.

Kirby’s Epic Yarn there is a re-release on the 3DS with extra features, but the chance to see this exquisite game rendered in high definition would make a triple drop inevitable. We love this gameand see it on that Switch OLED screen… Oh my God.
