A few weeks ago, I talked about beauty, beauty (what more) with my lovely colleague Schuyler Youngstrom, Email, SMS & Partner Director of Who What Wear’s Sr. At the time, she was wrapping up an “I Tried It” story, where she used the famous sculpting tool Hailey Bieber swore at, for a month in a row, to see if the hype and The results have been as astounding as Bieber (and countless other celebs) have touted them for.
I won’t give the results — you’ll have to read all about it here—But the whole concept of trying out products based on word of mouth and/or social media influence is interesting to us. As someone who is forced to read WWW beauty content every day as part of her job, Schuyler confirms that our glowing product reviews convinced her to purchase again and again, and in the end, hers reviews of products she has tried because we, has influenced people in her own circle to buy and try it out. And so the cycle goes on.
Obviously, we are still living in a relatively distant period so “word of mouth” may be more like “word of mouth-read-see” but the influence of those we trust share Discover their favorite beauty not lost on us. (I’m sure you can relate.) A lot of stories are born out of conversations I have with my colleagues, and this one is no different!
