2 NYPD officers reunited with blind man they saved from subway tracks, honored with commendation
Officers took action after the 61-year-old man fell off the platform on Grant Avenue in East New York.
Detective Henry Greco and Officer Jason Macaluso, both assigned to patrol the city block, quickly drag the man to safety.
“Sir, are you okay?” one of the officers asked the man, in the body camera video. “I’m glad we saw you.”
Housing Director Jeffrey Maddrey commended the officers for their quick thinking.When MTA President and CEO Janno Lieber honored them, Greco and Macaluso marveled in the MTA boardroom in the presence of the man they had saved.
The MTA awarded the officers with the “Hero of the Metro” certificate of merit.
