2023 Nissan Leaf changed design, simplified product line, range up to 215 miles
With Ariya electric crossovers are almost here, last year Nissan slashed the price of the Nissan Leaf by more than $4,000 – making it Cheapest electric car on the US market.
It has now kept the 2023 Leaf on a similar, more affordable trajectory, while updating the styling and cutting the number of models in the lineup to just two.
The two sides of the Nissan Leaf 2023 lineup include the Leaf S with the 40 kWh battery pack and the Leaf Plus SV with the 62 kWh pack. That gives an estimated EPA range of 149 miles for the S or 215 miles for the SV Plus. From what we can tell, these 2023 configurations skip the possible 226-mile rating through 2022 in base Leaf Plus S form.
There are also differences in power and acceleration between the two models. The S has a 110-kw electric motor that makes 147 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, while the SV Plus has a 160-kw motor that makes 214 hp and 250 lb-ft.

There is a big price difference between the two models. The Leaf S starts at $28,425, while the Leaf SV starts at $36,425.
Aesthetic refreshes include a new grille design and bumper molding, as well as a headlamp design with a black interior finish. Also, in sync with the Ariya, the Nissan badge on the front is illuminated.
Nissan has introduced a new 17-inch 5-twin-spoke alloy wheel design. It also says that throughout the lineup, the rear lower diffuser, rear spoiler and tire deflectors on the front and rear wheels have all been revised for better aerodynamics.
Inside, the 2023 Nissan Leaf gets new badging on the steering wheel, with a launch video for the dashboard display. Black fabric upholstery is now standard, with the Leaf S in gray and the Leaf SV Plus in gloss black. The Leaf SV also includes Nissan’s ProPilot Assist driver assistance system – which combines stop and start cruise control with active lane control.

With one thistle likely to occur around mid-decade, beyond a Larger US-built EV coming in 2025 and total 15 global EVs to arrive by 2030Nissan has the right idea – that success with electric vehicles means keeping familiar models while adding new ones.
The 2023 Leaf will arrive in US dealerships this summer.
