The beauty of summer is its inherent carefree nature. Plans are overrated because it’s all about figuring out how to enjoy warm weather naturally – including last-minute weekend beach trips, and endless nights to partake in everything and anything. That spirit is exactly why once May hits, I leave all my big and heavy bags on the bag. Sure, they can be useful for walking around additional activities, but they’re not as convenient once an after-work meeting turns into an impromptu bar-hopping night. But it’s not just my ability to pack lightly that wins me over: I find myself moving around more during the warmer months, and a shoulder laden with trash will age quickly.
In their place, I would look for bags that are as light and compact as possible. That includes swapping out a full-grain leather bag with a bulky buckle for a raffia bag and a mini crossbody bag that weighs a fraction of that.
