ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – Four people died and three others were injured in a car crash on Friday night.
Police say the crash happened in Delmar’s 4200 block around 9:28 p.m. KST. The driver was traveling east on Delmar Road at high speed trying to get away from officers when it collided with a Kia Sedona heading north on Sarah Road filled with six passengers. Both cars pulled off the road north of Delmar.
The Jeep driver then crashed into a Dodge Ram pickup truck that was parked at the curb. The suspect got in the car and fled the scene, leaving two 17-year-old boys. Police said one of the teenagers was taken to hospital with a possible broken wrist after officers found a gun and suspected drugs on him. Another teenager was arrested and sent to juvenile courts.
The driver of the Kia was taken to hospital, where she is presumed dead. Two other men and another woman in the same car were found dead at the scene. The remaining three passengers are all minors and have been taken to hospital in critical condition.
One witness told News 4 that they saw a crashed car and tried to help those inside who were trapped. Firefighters and EMS can be seen trying to get occupants out of the badly damaged vehicle.
Police say a further investigation found the Jeep Cherokee was involved in a minor collision with an Infinity SUV prior to the fatal crash. During the collision, one of the teenage passengers shot at people inside the SUV.
