5 Bienville students hospitalized after eating THC-laced gum | News

ARCADIA, La. – Five Bienville Parish high school students were hospitalized for observation Thursday after eating marshmallows suspected to contain THC or another controlled substance, Sheriff John Ballance said.

Delegates have an idea of who brought the marshmallows to school, but they plan to interview the students on Friday, Ballance said.

An Arcadia High School employee called 911 at around 9:15 a.m. to request an ambulance because some of the students were already sick.

Bienville deputies and investigators and Arcadia police responded and discovered the five students were “slightly comatose and exhibiting poor coordination,” Ballance said.

All were taken to Bienville Medical Center for treatment. That’s when investigators learned the students had eaten gum.

Ballance said blood samples were taken from each side for analysis.

No other students are believed to be involved.
