You would think that after all the stories I’ve written about travel style during the years I was at Who What Wear that I forbade myself from committing airport costume crime. Alas, I’m still guilty. My problem is that I tend to prioritize stylish looks over comfort, so I constantly remind myself to follow my own advice. (I promise you both style and comfort are possible.)
And then there’s the fact that many of us haven’t traveled in over a year and are still figuring out how to do it safely. When you add going through security, walking that feels like miles through train stations, adapting to changing temperatures, and having to sit in one place for long periods of time, that’s a lot to consider. . Because it can get overwhelming, I confess my former most common airport outfit mistakes. They can be subtle, but avoiding them will make all the difference to your comfort level as some of us explore traveling again.
