5-year-old missing from Columbus found dead in Russell County; suspect is arrested

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) – The Russell County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a child reported missing in Columbus has been found dead and a suspect is in custody.

On Monday morning, Columbus police issued a serious missing person notice for 5-year-old Kamarie Holland. It is believed she was last seen on Bowman Street. Later that evening, the alert was dropped – no further details were released.

The Russell County Coroner’s Office declared Kamarie dead at 11:15 p.m. Monday.

Jeremy Tremaine Williams, 37, has been charged with murder in connection with the case.

Russell County Sheriff’s Office shared more information about the incident during a press conference on Tuesday morning.
