68-year-old dies in hospital after trauma was ruled murder – WISH-TV | Indianapolis News | Indiana weather
INDIANAPOLIS (CONGRATULATIONS) – A 68-year-old man who entered an Indianapolis hospital with injuries in January has died, and his death is being treated as homicide, police said.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office on Friday ruled the death of Aron Thompson on February 11 as homicide, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department bulletin released Wednesday.
The statement said Thompson “suffered a trauma-related injury” but gave no details. The IMPD said the coroner’s office would announce how Thompson died.
The statement did not say what city Thompson lived in.
The IMPD believes Thompson was injured around January 8 in section 10100 of Pineneedle Courthouse. It’s in Carriage House East Apartments just northeast of the intersection of North Mitthoefer Road and East 42nd Street on the northeast side of Indianapolis.
Thompson showed up at IU Medical Examiner Hospital around noon on January 10, the IMPD said. Police are investigating reports of a person being assaulted while walking into the hospital. He died about a month later in the hospital.
The IMPD statement did not provide information on a possible suspect, only saying that no arrests had been made.
Anyone with information about the murder is asked to contact Detective Randy Weitzel at the homicide office at 317-327-3475 or at randy.weitzel@indy.gov.
This story has been corrected to indicate that the IMPD does not state how Thompson died. We’re sorry about this error.
