7 London fashion week trends that will take over

fashion month may be a regularly scheduled six-month event, but timing never surprises me. It crept into me slowly and suddenly, and before I knew it I was already in it. So you can imagine my surprise when I realized that London Fashion Week has come and gone. And with that comes a striking cohesive message from the designers who showcased their collections there. Their design represents the fact that a new era for England has arrived.

Last season, London Fashion Week attendees were shocked to realize that the queen is over just a few days before the events. Celebrations have been halted and catwalk shows continue to pay tribute to the queen. After many “changes of guard” afterwards, we arrived at the first London fashion week since.

One show that really marked the change that has happened in London since fashion week was none other than Burberry. The announcement of Daniel Lee leaving Bottega Veneta and going to Burberry made everyone wait to see what he would do. His work sent a clear message. The designs reflect traditional British symbols but with an update—think head-to-toe plaid, oversized fur hats like the queen’s squire, and traditional tailoring paired with a patterned t-shirt.

The 2023 update to the traditional British wardrobe sounds exactly like what I want to wear in the coming fall and winter. One thing the LFW designers have had this season is fun. Below, find seven trends they’ve introduced that are guaranteed to take over next fall.
