Americans have fallen out of love small truck. For some reason, a super practical, multi-seat vehicle that can carry almost anyone and everything is less common than giant SUVs that make it difficult to reach the third row of seats. The rest of the world hasn’t forgotten small truckadvantages, and many well-known automakers offer a whole range of family vans, some offering luxury features and smart camping. Here are some vehicles that carry prohibited fruit that we cannot purchase in the United States.
Toyota Noah/Voxy
The Toyota Noah and Voxy have been around since the early 2000s and sit below the Alphard (more on that below) in the automaker’s line of trucks. Toyota’s sales model at Japan looks complicated from the outside, as the company sells different vehicles in different categories authorized dealer. The original Noah was sold at Toyota corolla Shops before the automaker switches its models to vans in all locations in 2020. Now, in its fourth generation, the van twins offer body-friendly features. as family friendly as the step-by-step system and utilizes Toyota’s latest hybrid system.
Toyota Alphard
Toyota Alphard is a formal minivan sold in several countries and regions, including Bangladesh, China and the Middle East. It is currently in its third generation and has Lexus-like styling with a large cabin. The Alphard is available with a number of powertrain options, including some that it shares with Lexus and other Toyota models, including ES 350 and highlanders. Toyota equips the Alphard with a number of advanced safety features, and the van can comfortably carry up to eight people. That said, the Alphard is more expensive than many of its rivals in the markets where it’s sold, so people might consider other options.
Mitsubishi Delica
If you’ve spent time on car corners on social media, you’ve seen a Delica. They’re everywhere now, as Americans realize that a small, light truck with real ground clearance and four-wheel drive is a great thing. Mitsubishi produced various vehicles under the Delica name, including trucks and kei cars, but the minivan is the one most of us recognize. The Delica entered its fifth generation in 2007 and was upgraded in 2019. It is still available with all-wheel drive, although Mitsubishi also sells a front-wheel drive version. Today’s trucks are light-years away from the classic models we can enter here, and feature large grilles with unique front lighting fixtures.
Nissan Serena
The NISSAN The Serena is amazingly old and will enter its sixth generation in 2023. Nissan offers petrol and hybrid engine options, and the van can carry up to seven people. It is larger in most dimensions than Toyota and that rival but lighter than both. Top trims are surprisingly luxurious with diamond-stitched leather seats and neat features like a fold-down second-row food tray with a drink holder.
Lexus LM300
The LM is a rebranded Toyota Alphard, but its interior offers a luxury that its “inferior” counterpart lacks. Buyers can add a refrigerator in the second row, a ceiling mounted clock and a large 26-inch screen in the rear. There’s even the option of seating with a wall of privacy between the front passenger and others in the rear. Many van outfits as one rolling office, although Lexus does sell a passenger-friendly version with seven seats.
Honda Step WGN
Remember something Mazda multi-purpose vehicle? It wasn’t quite a pickup truck, but it was still capable to prove that practicality doesn’t always mean you have to buy the biggest truck you can find. Honda’s motobike further prove that point with Step WGN. The Japanese truck is sold in several countries and offers seating for six people in its cute boxy body. Depending on the model, the interior can be equipped with multiple screens, including a 15.6-inch rear monitor. Honda introduced a new sixth-generation van in early 2022 with more futuristic styling and a more traditional tailgate design, but the new van retains the signature Step WGN aesthetic.
Hyundai Staria
The hyundai Staria stands out with its cool styling and premium cabin. Hyundai offers several seating configurations, including a model with up to 11 seats. Staria design comes together under Design Director of Hyundai, SangYup Lee, and look straight out into space. The swept-back front end features hidden windshield wipers and a unique diamond-patterned grille with “pixel” LED running lights. It offers more interior space than many rivals, and people love the truck’s cargo space, some of which look almost also big.
VWCalifornia
Interestingly, Volkswagen sells a truck with the California name that you can’t really buy in California or anywhere else in the US for that matter. The pop-up van feels like an old-fashioned camper and can accommodate up to four people. Buyers can equip a fully equipped kitchen in the car with available tables and chairs that can be folded when not in use. Volkswagen sells three versions of the California in the UK, none of which are cheap. California’s camper features can make the truck a home for the right people, and Grand California offers even more, so the price is understandable.
Why can’t we import these trucks?
Aside from people in Japan and other countries driving on the other side of the road and having cars steer on the right side, there are a few disappointing but valid reasons why we can’t enter random cars from anywhere we want. Most other countries have different emissions and safety regulations than ours, and imported vehicles may not meet the standards that new car required to pass. That said, countless companies offer import services and many will handle all the paperwork for you. But if you’re seriously considering importing any vehicle, including a sweet van, you’ll have to make sure it’s at least 25 years old to be eligible to import. That rules out a lot of the new trucks you see here, but there are still some appealing options for true fans, including some older Mitsubishi Delica models.
