A Beginner’s Guide to Juice Cleaning— Which Cleans? How many days? Advice?

JUICE CLEANSE IN YOUR HEART? Great, then this article is for you! I’ve done four washes so far, so first let me reiterate that I don’t claim to be an expert in this area. However, my experience can still give you some insightful tips, tricks and advice for all those first time or beginner cleansers.

WHAT IS IT? A juice cleanse isn’t a quick tip for permanent weight loss – although you’ll be more likely to lose weight when you do. The real purpose of a The juice cleanse is to give your body an effective way to achieve reset button and detoxifies the body from unhealthy habits.

HOW TO CLEAN? Today, there are many different brands that offer cleaning juices, so doing your research is important. I will share with you two brands which I have personally used and explain my experience with them.

– Jus By Julie provides face wash service from 1-5 days. I personally did both 3 and 5 day cleanings. I think Jus By Julie is a GREAT choice for first time cleansers. It’s easy, keeps you full and provides 6 juices of all sizes a day.

Each smoothie is made with whole vegetables and fruits which means you’re still getting all the nutrients and vitamins you need.

An example of what you would queue on a given date is:

  • Sweet rotation (green juice)

  • Spicy lemonade / spicy pomegranate

  • Green Radiance

  • Chia Berry

  • Choco-nana / Watermelon Wizard / Acai Blend (choco-nana is my favorite!!)

  • X-treme Greens (green juice)

What I personally like best about Jus by Julie cleansers is that some of them are more like a smoothie consistency, to me it just seems more filling/satisfying. I can also say that compared to other cleaners, the taste in this one is SOO good. They also do a great job at switching categories every day. For example, alternate the second and fifth juices of the day so you don’t feel like you’re drinking the same thing over and over again. Trust me, it makes a huge difference, especially if you’re cleaning your skin for 3-5 days.

Overall, I lost 4lbs for this wash. As mentioned above, this is not permanent, as it is mostly water weight (I think that’s what they call it).

– BluePrint provides cleaning service from 1-6 days. Personally, I’ve only done 3 days of “Beach Ready” detox. BluePrints cleaners are labeled as first or medium, but to be fair, the cleaners I did, I would personally classify as more average quality since you only get 5 full sized juice (as opposed to 6) during this cleaning and a 2oz booster shot.

The lineup I got for the “Sea Readiness” detox is as follows:

However, for a fair comparison with the 3 & 5 day cleaners described by Jus by Julie above, I’ll show you what a similar BluePrint cleaner looks like.. I’ll put a * down below to indicate if this juice was included in my cleanse above.

An example of what your lineup will look like on a given day is

  • Kale It Up *

  • Pineapple power *

  • Kale It Up *

  • Reset lemon

  • Sugar beet

  • Nuts and bolts *

My favorite of the bunch is Nut & Bolt! However, my biggest problem with BluePrint is that each juice has a juice consistency rather than a thicker smoothie like consistency. I know it sounds silly since this is called the “juice” cleaning, but I’m telling you it makes a huge difference. To be honest, I was worried that I would feel hungry after I drank the first cup of my cleansing pack because I was so used to drinking the thicker juices from Jus by Julie. I’m really surprised, I’m actually not more or less hungry, but mentally, I feel more difficult.

I lost 6 pounds doing the Beach Ready Detox. I can’t speak to the traditional 3-5 day cleaning, as I haven’t tried one from this company.

Overall, if I had to choose between two of them as a first time cleaner recommendation, I would have to choose Jus by Julie. I think their juice is much tastier and more satisfying, making it much easier to wash your face on a first timer.

If I had to recommend the cleanse to someone looking for that quick fix for a bikini-packed weekend, I would recommend the Beach Ready Detox. It’s very effective, but I’m telling you it’s not easy.

HOW DO I HAVE MY CLEANING TIME & SCHEDULE? This really depends on your personal schedule. For me, I wake up early (from 5-6 am) so my schedule looks like this:

  • 12 noon: Tuesday

  • 3PM: Wednesday

  • 5PM: Thursday

I try to release them 2-3 hours in advance, adjusting as the body feels it needs fuel. So if I’m scheduled to drink juice at 3pm, but I’m hungry at 2pm, I drink one (give your body what it needs). The most important key is to make sure the schedule you set fits your personal routine—if you wake up later, you will obviously start later and finish later in the evening. You also want to make sure you schedule your juice drinks close to bedtime to help keep you full throughout the night. I go to bed around 10pm, so 7pm suits me.

  1. Plan your cleaning according to upcoming events. For example, do NOT plan for an accidental wash to take place as part of a vacation or vacation. I made that mistake once and it sucks!! I also try and plan my face wash during the week, rather than on the weekend. Again, really try to avoid your cleanse overlapping with any fun activities.

  2. Technically, you’re not allowed to eat anything contained in these cleaners, such as at all. However, if you absolutely need to eat something they say you can eat some raw vegetables. Personally, I don’t eat anything when I clean. Besides that for a while (mentioned above) Poor planning got me the best and the last day of my cleanse fell on vacation time. Let’s just say that my cheat meal was a veggie burger and margarine and certainly not an acceptable substitute for raw veggies.

  3. You are also not allowed to drink anything but water. So caffeine-free and alcohol-free. They say that if you really need caffeine, you can drink 1 cup of black coffee.

  4. Try and find a friend to do your first cleaning, it will help support morale! My fiancé, Shaun, did my first juice cleanse with me and it definitely made it easier to get through the motions together.

  5. Be positive and don’t give up! It’s not easy – you’ll probably get stomachaches and headaches, especially if it’s your first time, but that’s completely normal. You got it!

I hope this helps and as always if you have any questions feel free to get in touch!
