A man died after a car crash into Bret Harte Elementary School in East Hyde Park on the South Side, the Chicago Police Department said.

CHICAGO (WLS) – A man was found dead after crashing into an elementary school on the city’s South Side Sunday morning, the Chicago Police Department said.

The crash happened around 6:50 a.m. at Bret Harte Elementary School in the 5600 block of the East Hyde Park neighborhood on South Stony Island Avenue, police said. It appears the driver, 60, was unconscious before the collision.

Police said the Large Accidents Unit and medical examiner are investigating.

Police did not provide further information on the incident.
