“I think that’s good news, people who have been vaccinated and boosted are protected, but we have to continue to monitor them,” Burton said.
Burton says he believes the end of the Omicron wave is in sight, but that unvaccinated people are still at risk.
“Vaccinations and boosters almost eliminate that risk, but 40 percent of the population is still under-vaccinated and certainly not booster,” he said.
The Omicron is a “curve sphere,” says Burton.
“It’s exploded around the world, now there’s a subsection of that, the number of hospitalizations in this country is probably the highest we’ve ever seen, the deaths of three and a half thousand people a day.
