Felicia Hugon said, she added that these days, it’s hard to sleep knowing someone started a fire in her Superior. Town neighborhood.
Several homes were damaged or destroyed in the seven fires that began in August.
Investigators with the Superior Town Fire Department and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office believe they are being deliberately set up.
On Monday, witnesses spotted a teenager living in the area trying to set the courtyard on fire. The boy was located and later released to his parents, pending the outcome of the investigation and the prosecutor’s office reviewing the evidence.
Kenneth Edwards and his wife lived in one of the destroyed homes, and he suspects they would have escaped in time if their neighbors hadn’t warned them of the fire spreading from one of their uninhabited homes.
“Thank God for my neighbor,” Edwards told 7 Action News. “If she hadn’t come through, the way the fire was burning, there’s no way we’d be able to get out of there.”
The Michigan State Fire Department is also involved in the joint investigation.
Anyone with information about the fire should contact Deputy Bland at Blandc@washtenaw.org or send an anonymous tip to (734) 973-7711.
An anonymous tip can also be provided to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak up.
