A Walgreens employee refuses to sell a pair of condoms because of religious beliefs
A couple said they couldn’t buy condoms because a Wisconsin Walgreens employee refused to sell them based on religious beliefs.
Nathan Pentz tweeted that his partner, Jay, went to Walgreens to buy condoms at a Hayward location in July but couldn’t afford them.
We went to Hayward to buy some groceries and stopped at @Walgreens because we left Jess on birth control at home. When Jess was checking out, cashier John told her he couldn’t sell her condoms. “Oh, I got them from there.”
“We could, but I won’t for my faith.” 1 / x

Pentz also said employees are “embarrassed[ed] [her] ahead of other customers because of her breeding choices” as she approached the register.
Pentz expressed that the employee asked if Jay wanted a manager, but she declined.
Walgreens released a statement stating that the employee did not violate any store policies.
Our policies are designed to ensure we meet the needs of our patients and clients while respecting the religious and ethical beliefs of our team members,” said a spokesperson for know. “In rare cases, however, when a team member has moral or religious beliefs about completing a transaction, they are required to refer the customer to an employee or manager. Another agent on duty will complete the transaction, which is what happened in this case.
In a follow-up tweet, Pentz said he decided to have a vasectomy.
After the Walgreens incident, I applied for a vasectomy. https://t.co/MJkcKUEyes

Regarding vasectomy, as you know, the Supreme Court officially overturned Roe v Wade’s landmark ruling in June. At that time, searches for male birth control increased by 2,471%, according to Google Trends.
Roomies, do you think this employee has gone too far?
