AAP Targets Mumbai Citizens Authority, Says It Failed To Clean Rivers, Drain Before Monsoon
The Aam Adami Party (AAP) on Wednesday alleged that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) led by Shiv Sena failed to clean up the city’s rivers and nullah as the southwest monsoon approached.
The president of the AAP’s Mumbai unit, Preeti Sharma Menon, said party volunteers had visited several rivers, nullah rivers and storm sewers and noticed that the civics agency had done a poor job. effective.
“The party municipal unit visited all flood prone areas and examined rivers, nullahs and storm drains (SWDs) that caused the flooding. We were shocked to find that none of the phenomena preceded the monsoon,” Menon said.

“Only 28% of nullahs and SWDs in south Mumbai have been cleaned, while 58% of nullahs and SWDs have been cleaned in the eastern suburbs,” she said.
Similarly, 50% of nullahs and SWDs in the western suburbs have yet to be cleaned, she said, claiming that even the BMC admits it only cleans 55% of the city’s small nallahs, she added. .
Even according to BMC’s own data, the large nullahs and SWDs in the city are still far from exterminated.

BMC released notice
The civil authority issued a notice to the contractor, asking why it is not advisable to take actions such as terminating the contract, proceeding with the remaining work at the contractor’s risk and expense, unsubscribing and blacklisted the unit.
The BMC adds that a large portion of the nullah, including the Poisar River, Chandravarkar nullah and another 48 nullahs have yet to be cleaned.
AAP leaders took down Maharashtra govt
Hitting the state government on dealing with the problem, Menon said, “Year after year, the Shiv Sena government has shown complete indifference towards the death and devastation caused in Mumbai. The sole goal. Their most is looting the BMC and their recklessness towards pre-monsoon preparation has nothing to do with criminal intent.”
She added: “It is time to bury ‘God Mumbai’ and bring criminal charges against those responsible for the floods we will inevitably face.
Mumbaikers be warned! We will all drown in this monsoon like all of us @mybmc River cleaning claims, nallah, swds are fake. @AAPMumbai require criminal negligence cases to be filed against those responsible, in particular @Shivsena leaders #BMC__ pic.twitter.com/THk8oPfUrY

Another AAP leader, Gopal Jhaveri, criticized BMC officials, saying, “The sheer deception behind the Mithi River cleanup report proves that something is wrong with the BMC. It seems that there is something wrong with the BMC. There is a great connection between the river cleaning contractors and the city government, and they believe that the life of the Mumbaikars is a small price to pay.”
AAP request to solve the problem
Meanwhile, the AAP has requested a designated independent external agency to inspect the pre-monsoon preparedness and all contractors and officers who failed to complete the work, as well as those who reported errors. will be tried for attempted murder.
The party also urged that should the city flood again during this monsoon, criminal negligence cases would be filed with councilors representing those wards.
