Aaron Rodgers’ Fascinating Method for Controlling the Jets’ Offense

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is taking control of offensive meetings using fun quizzes.

“Players need to pay attention as Rodgers will go around the room asking players from different location groups,” Written ESPN’s rich Cimini. “He would ask a player his mission in a particular playstyle, then change it up by testing the player himself to see how he would adjust if the playstyle was changed.”

Rodgers is making it clear that he is the captain of the attack and that he wants his teammates to follow his direction.

It’s no surprise to see the former Packers QB take control of the Jets’ offense as he wants more input in Green Bay and criticizes Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. Rodgers once said Lafleur’s system “defective.”

One reason New York has attracted Rodgers as a commercial destination is offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, who served as the Packers OC from 2019 to 2021 and is a close friend of QB.

During his introductory press conference, Rodgers said, “I love him like a brother.” So it makes sense for Hackett to let Rodgers frequently interject in meetings. Additionally, Rodgers said he gets “a lot of authority” from Hackett, according to Cimini.

Rodgers is a four-time league and Super Bowl MVP champion, which is why the Jets serve him. There is precedent for new teams to accept requests from their veteran QBs. Peyton Manning and Tom Brady also receive similar perks with the Broncos and Buccaneers.

The Jets gave Rodgers what he wanted. Now, he must end a more than 50-year championship drought to cement his legacy in New York.
