Agents arrest Blanchard man after hitting CPSO K-9 unit | News


BLANCHARD, La. – Police Chief Steve Prator said Caddo deputies arrested a man in Blanchard after he crashed into an occupied patrol vehicle near the scene of a previous crash, Police Chief Steve Prator said. know.

At around 2:44 a.m. Friday, a 1996 Ford Ranger crashed into a marked CPSO K-9 unit blocking the road during a rail accident investigation. The CPSO unit activated the emergency lights to block LA 173 at Smith Lane.

A brief chase ensued north on LA 173. Caddo District 1 Fire Brigade was ordered to seal off the roadway to protect first responders who worked on the previous incident. Suspect stopped after encountering Engine 122 blocking the highway.

David Hanus, 59, was arrested and charged with ignoring traffic controls, hitting and fleeing, flying from an officer, possession of an injecting drug device. He is being investigated for a DUI.

Senior Deputy Marc Herring and K-9 Loki, who were inside the hit patrol vehicle, were not injured in the incident.
