Alan Wake 2: 11 clues you might have missed in the May 2023 trailer
Meet Agent Saga Anderson
How does this for a hero shoot? Feeling straight out of The X-Files, the game’s second playable character, FBI Agent Saga Anderson is introduced. We’ll see her starring in her own gameplay moments shortly after this shot in the trailer, but here we get to see another interesting detail: the very warm knit sweater her offerings. It seems like an odd outfit choice for an FBI agent, maybe even like his mother.
I don’t think this sweater has any deeper lore, but I think it helps us start to understand Saga as a character. She’s supposed to be an excellent criminal profiler, and I have no doubt about her, but her sweater shows a side of her that’s a little less serious than the others. What you can expect from her work. I am very excited to meet her.
As for the narrative, we learn something else important at this point: Agent Nightingale, who hunted Alan for most of the first game, assumes the city’s rogue is the culprit. The cause of all the town’s ongoing problems, is dead. Saga is there to investigate his death. In the original game, we were last seen with him after seemingly being possessed by the Dark Presence, but unlike Alan, he is not in the Dark Place. He appears to be another Taken – the name of those claimed by Dark Presence who, in game terms, represent the enemy side. What happened to Nightingale? That’s for the Saga – and the players – to decide.
