Alexander Skarsgard Seeks Revenge In ‘The Northman’ Trailer – The Hollywood Reporter
“I will avenge you, father. I will save my mother. I will kill you, Fjolnir. ”
Alexander Skarsgård repeats these phrases over and over in the first trailer for Robert Eggers’ Northerner.
Set in 10th century Iceland, Focus Features’ action film follows young viking prince Amleth (Skarsgård) on a journey to avenge the death of his father. The period production also stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman, Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe, Claes Bang and Björk.

The trailer opens with young Amleth and his mother Queen Gudrún (Kidman) awaiting the return of King Aurvandil (Hawke), who shortly after his return was murdered by his brother (Bang). The Queen is kidnapped and Amleth has no choice but to flee her homeland, where her revenge journey begins.
“Why did you hide to such a diabolical place?” Taylor-Joy’s Olga asked Amleth of Skarsgård. “To find what was stolen from me,” he replied. “And what is it,” she asked. “Kingdom.”
The nearly two-and-a-half-minute trailer gives viewers a look at just how far Amleth will go to avenge her father, save her mother, and kill her uncle Fjolnir.
“You have to choose between being kind to your loved ones or hating your enemies,” Amleth said.
Northerner in theaters on April 22.
