The dark comedy Darlings created a hype even before the first trailer was released. The main character of the film Alia Bhatt also made her debut with this film. Bhatt has had a great 2022 so far after going missing from the silver screen in 2021. So far, she has featured in the record-breaking blockbuster RRR alongside Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr. (Jr. NTR) and played the main character of Gangubai Kathiawadi in the crime biopic. Later this year, she will play real-life lover Ranbir Kapoor in the highly anticipated fantasy adventure Brahmastra. And in the middle of it are the Darlings. The story revolves around a couple, where the husband is an alcoholic and abuses his wife. So the wife, played by Bhatt, devises an elaborate plan to treat him the same way and make him see his mistake. The film is about the serious problem of domestic violence and how people suffer from it in modern India. The film uses dark comedy elements to add a layer of humor to the serious matter.
The film is also considered Bhatt’s first project as a Producer as she collaborated with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Earlier, she said in a statement, “We are very proud and happy that the film has shaped it and we hope it will entertain and engage audiences around the world.”
The movie’s OTT release date is on August 5, 2022, and right now it’s available to stream on Netflix. Netflix original movies are released directly on OTT and can be viewed by anyone with a subscription to the streaming platform. Those of you who don’t have a subscription yet should know that its cheapest subscription costs Rs. 149 where users can watch content on the streaming platform only on their mobile devices and for Rs. 199, you can also watch it on a larger screen but the resolution will be limited to 480p.
