Almost Overtaking Samuel L. Jackson on the Set of Secret Invasion – The Hollywood Reporter
The latest Marvel series secret invasion action-packed, but Emilia Clarke is detailing some off-screen action that didn’t go as planned.
In a recent interview with Yahoo entertainmentwhere she joined her co-star Ben Mendelsohn, the actress revealed that one day on set, she “nearly ran away from him.” [Samuel L. Jackson] over” with a car.
“They put me in a Lada, like a very old Russian car,” explains Clarke. “And I walked in and I was like, ‘Hey, what’s up with six people? [shift knobs] come here? Which one am I using? Why does it have 10 pedals?’ Its [like] a tractor… I know how to drive. I know how to drive a stick. [But there wasn’t] enough time. They are saying, ‘We have to go. We are shooting. Here I love. Just go. We will go.'”
The actress said she encouraged herself: “Okay, I can do it. Just a stopover.”
She continued, “[I] into it. We get up to it. The camera is right there. Sam is right there. And I pressed the wrong one, I hit the gas, not the brake.”
Clarke was fortunate to be able to quickly find the brake pedal, avoiding a collision with Captain Marvel performer. She then notes that he was “very polite, lovely, and kind” throughout the entire situation.
But for Clarke, she had a slightly different reaction. “Then I cried a little bit and someone else drove it for me,” she added.
The actress plays G’iah in the Marvel series, in which Jackson’s Nick Fury and Mendelsohn’s Talos team up to try to stop the Skrulls from invading the highest spheres of the Marvel Universe.
Clarke and Mendelsohn also recently spoke with hollywood reporter about how relieved they were that they didn’t have to spend hours and hours doing their makeup and hair before filming because their characters weren’t Skrulls for the entire series.
“You’ve heard it 9,000 times already, but [Secret Invasion] is a grounded show,” she said. “It’s understandable, while we’re Skrulls, viewers are looking at our human form more than anything else.”
