Alphonso Davies was injured a few weeks before the World Cup

Canada is sweating for Alphonso Davies’ fitness just over two weeks before the World Cup begins after he sustained an apparent leg injury while playing for Bayern Munich.

Davies gripped his right thigh before walking out with obvious discomfort in the 63rd minute of the 3-2 win over Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

“According to the doctor, it is at least a tear. We will have to wait and see what happens tomorrow,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann.

Davies, who can play at wing or left-back, has started all but one of Bayern’s 13 Bundesliga games this season and he has played in all but one of the team’s Champions League matches.

Davies has 12 goals in 35 games for Canada.

Canada has a World Cup match against Bahrain in Manama on November 11 and Japan in Dubai on November 17.

It will be challenged from the start in Group F in Qatar, where the team faces Belgium on November 23, then Croatia on November 27 and Morocco on December 1.
