Alpine adds two larger EVs as it focuses on global expansion

Renault’s sports car brand will rise to new heights, with Alpine the range includes two larger models as it is geared towards the global market.

These will include a D-segment crossover and an E-segment crossover, both of which will go electric when the brand stops selling internal combustion engines from 2026.

Two new models will be revealed after one previously announced trilogy of electric Alpine models, to be released from 2024 onwards.

The term D-segment is often used to refer to mid-size SUVs such as BMW X3with segment E naturally referring to the next type of size increase.

New Alpines will appear alongside the previously confirmed next generation A110 sports car and above a lightweight hatch on the CMF-BEV platform as the basis for Renault 5 and a medium-sized crossover called GT X-Over.

Later will share the CMF-EV platform with Renault Megane E-Tech Electric and Nissan Ariyaand will be available with all-wheel drive with torque vectoring.

Alpine said it expects half of its growth to come from new markets outside of Europe “including potential North America and China” – two key markets the brand has yet to enter after its launch. Revisited in 2017.

It said it will leverage trade partnerships and investor support to accelerate growth and international expansion.

The company’s local distributor, Ateco, has previously said it is open to bringing new Alpine vehicles here. The brand’s only model, the A110, is stopped production last year as it does not comply with the more stringent side effects of ADR 85.

The Renault Group calls Alpine a “true premium brand, an official OEM, focusing on assets, technology” with a team of 2,000 people, 50% of whom are engineers.

It also sets the brand’s production target to be carbon neutral by 2030.

Renault’s F1 team has been renamed Alpine, and Renault under CEO Luca de Meo – appointed in 2020 – has committed to the low-displacement sports car brand.

It is one of four brands of the Renault Group, along with budget-friendly Dacia and its mobile arm Mobilize.

Renault expects Alpine to bring in sales of 2 billion euros ($3.1 billion) in 2026 and more than 8 billion euros ($12.41 billion) in 2030.

It expects the “premium anchor” brand to break even by 2026 and have an operating profit margin greater than 10% by 2030.

The Renault Group announced this week as part of its Revolution business plan that it will become a “next-generation automotive company built on five focused business areas”, one of That number is Alpine.

Others are Ampere, its new electric vehicle and software; Motor, its mobile part; The future is neutral, a “circular economy company”; and Power, will develop combustion and hybrid powertrains as part of the 50/50 joint venture with Geely.

Alpine’s next-generation A110 will be developed in collaboration with Lotus, in which Geely holds the majority stake.
