SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) -A bunch of Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:) employees in New York Metropolis’s Staten Island has withdrawn a petition to carry a union election, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Nationwide Labor Relations Board confirmed on Friday.
The group, generally known as the Amazon Labor Union, filed its petition final month, becoming a member of an escalating push by unions to arrange Amazon’s huge community of warehouse employees.
It was unclear why the Amazon Labor Union withdrew its petition. Chris Smalls, a pacesetter of the group and a former worker on the Staten Island warehouse, didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
“Our focus stays on listening on to our staff and constantly bettering on their behalf,” Kelly Nantel, an Amazon spokeswoman, mentioned in an announcement.
Amazon raised doubts final month about whether or not the Amazon Labor Union had gathered sufficient official signatures to carry a union election.
