Amber Heard ‘would rather go to a fight than let Johnny Depp walk away’, jury hears in closing argument

Johnny Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, alleged that Amber Heard “would rather go to a fight than let him go” during arguments that ended on Friday (May 27).

Ms. Vasquez made the final arguments on behalf of Mr. Depp in a multi-million dollar defamation trial, which began April 11 in Virginia’s Fairfax District Court.

“You heard evidence from Dr. Curry… that Miss Heard’s deepest fear was abandonment. Depp left,” Ms. Vasquez told the jury adding, “Mr Depp’s greatest crime in her mind, the fault she faced with him over and over again, was that he shared turn.

“He left the fight—especially when Miss Heard got tired. And she couldn’t stand it when he did. You heard Miss Heard herself tell in the recording how she was upset that Mr Depp was going to break up,” before playing the recording of Miss Heard to the court.

“I feel like it’s your first thing. It’s not necessary. Not always so [that] you’re separating because there are blows or because there’s screaming or whatever. You split as much – most of the times – as I am still speaking in this episode. And nothing was thrown or hit or anything,” Ms Heard can be heard saying in the voice clip, part of the evidence admitted.

“You’ve seen the series of texts she’ll send when he’s gone, calling him a monster for doing so,” Ms Vasquez said, adding, “You’ve heard from witnesses like [Depp’s bodyguard] Travis McGivern, Tara Roberts [manager of Depp’s private island in the Bahamas]Debbie Llyod [Depp’s nurse] that Mrs. Heard would scratch Mr. Depp’s face, block an elevator, throw a punch as Mr. Depp tried to separate himself from a fight. ”

“You heard from Dr Anderson, Mr Depp and Mrs Heard’s couple therapist that Mrs Heard reported that when Mr Depp left to settle a fight, she would attack to keep him in. It was because she wanted to fight rather than let him leave,” Ms. Vasquez told the jury.

Mr. Depp is suing his ex-wife for defamation on a 2018 show she wrote for Articles washington where she describes herself as “a figurehead of domestic abuse”.

The But the pirate of the Caribbean The actor was not named in the article titled “I spoke out against sexual violence – and faced the outrage of our culture. That has to change.”

However, Mr Depp claimed that it falsely implied that he was a domestic abuser – which he strongly denied – and that it made it difficult for him to land Hollywood roles. He’s suing for $50 million.

Ms Heard is protesting $100 million, accusing Depp of orchestrating a “smear campaign” against her and describing his lawsuit as a continuation of “abuse and harassment”.
