Analytics Redbird OS makes data easier for non-technical users to access • TechCrunch

Data engineers have a big problem. Almost every team in their enterprise needs access to analytics and other information that can be gleaned from their data warehouse, but only a few have a technical background. Red bird was created to help everyone in an organization create and run analytics without using code, thus reducing the number of bottlenecks that data engineers need to solve. The New York-based startup announced today that it has raised $7.6 million in an oversubscribed seed round led by B Capital, with participation from Y Combinator, Thomson Reuters Ventures, Alumni Ventures and Soma Capital, among other funds and angel investors.

Redbird, formerly known as Cube Analytics, acts as an analytics operating system by connecting all of an organization’s data sources into a code-free environment that non-technical users can use. Used to perform analysis, reporting, and other data science tasks. The new funding will be used to add codeless capabilities. It also plans to build its marketplace, where users and developers can exchange the apps they create with Redbird.

Founded by data analytics experts Erin Tavgac and Deren Tavgac, Redbird works with large enterprises in a variety of verticals including consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, retail, media and agency. Erin previously worked at McKinsey, helping companies set up and run data analytics capabilities, while Deren was product manager at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Erin told TechCrunch that the two have left their jobs to address enterprise data analytics issues such as a lack of automation and advanced analytics that require coding skills. That means data engineering teams can’t meet all the needs from stakeholders, leaving companies unable to manage fragmented tools in a complex data stack.

Redbird solves these problems by allowing people without a technical background to create custom applications to automate analytics, bypassing bottlenecks for engineering teams. data while giving everyone access to data analytics.

Redbird’s peers in the enterprise data analytics space include underlying analytics tools like Tableau, Looker, and Microsoft Power BI, which Tavgac said Redbird doesn’t consider a direct competitor because they don’t themselves Automate complex end-to-end workflows, instead providing generic data visualizations from the transformed dataset.

A closer competitor is advanced automation platforms like Alteryx, but it has a few downsides compared to Redbird. First, it has less capabilities in collection, data science, and visualization, meaning customers can’t use it as a comprehensive analytics workflow solution, Tavgac said. It is also difficult for non-technical users to accept, a problem that Redbird was created to solve.

Most of Redbird’s customers are large enterprises generating more than $1 billion in revenue. It’s profitable, with seven-figure sales and 9x revenue growth over the past year. Redbird makes money through an enterprise SaaS model, with usage-based licensing fees.

Some examples of how customers have used Redbird: a major media company created an automated workflow that collects data from over 10 sources, applies advanced analytics to them, and generates thousands of reports custom ads to guide their ad sales. A global CPG brand is using Redbird to track digital brand health across multiple data sources, such as social media, e-commerce reviews, and Google search volume, and use Use advanced analytics to predict future sales trends.

In a statement, B Capital general partner Karen Page said, “We believe Redbird will become an important platform for businesses to manage complex data workflows. This investment underscores our strategy of partnering with innovative companies that enable rapid technological transformation in traditional industries. “
