Android Auto mobile screen app pulled down; Replaced with Google Assistant Driving Mode: Report

Google has begun removing Android Auto screens from phones after about seven years, according to a report. Back in August of last year, Google confirmed that they would be disabling the Android Auto app for standalone phone screens from Android 12 onwards. Earlier this month, a pop-up message appeared to some users saying that Android Auto for phone screens would be discontinued soon. At the time, Google had not set a closing date, but now reports of it’s disappearance have begun to appear.

According to a report from 9To5Google that quote posts on Reddit, Google has started to turn off Android Auto for phone screen. This app was launched in 2015 and now it will end about seven years later. The report adds that Google Assistant Driving Mode will replace Android Auto for phone screens. The move is believed to be an attempt to switch users to Google Assistant’s Driving Mode.

In August 2021, Google has announced in a statement that the tech giant will move users who want the phone experience to Google Assistant’s Driving Mode, starting with Android 12. Driving Mode is what Google calls an integrated driving experience on mobile devices.

Recently report says the Android Auto app for phone screens is being used to get Android Auto features on older cars that have been disabled. According to the report, a pop-up message has appeared on the Android Auto Phone Screen app stating that the feature will be discontinued soon. At the time, Google had not provided any details or exact date of the outage.

Google has recently announced that the company will release a bunch of new features for Android Auto by the end of 2022. These features could include a new user interface and support for suggested answers based on Google Assistant suggestions. .
