Four minutes after 2022 and about 10 minutes ago Miley Cyrus has a wardrobe problem on NBC, Andy Cohen delivered an unbelievable, highly intoxicating 45-second hit against outgoing New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Bravo CEO and his friend Anderson Cooper were co-hosting the CNN New Year’s Eve special live from Times Square in Manhattan when, after taking a sip of tequila, Cohen approached the former marketer. Chief really hates.
“Watch Mayor de Blasio perform the victory bracelet dance after 4 years of the craziest New York City mayor!” Cohen exclaims, as Cooper pleads “don’t babble” and tries to get the TV character to swear. “The only thing Democrats and Republicans can agree on is that terrible mayor he used to be. So sayonara, sucka! Year 2022! It’s a new year, because guess what? I have a feeling I’ll be standing right here next year, and you know who I won’t be looking to dance to when the city falls apart? FRIEND!”
“Is that how you want to start the new year?” Cooper chuckled and was taken aback.
In this writer’s humble opinion, it’s the best thing Cohen has ever done.
The announcement came just as Eric Adams was sworn in as the new mayor of New York City from Times Square following the ball drop.
“It’s great that New York shows the whole country how we’re back,” Adams told the gathered crowd. “You know, we’ve all lived through our Pearl Harbor moments. It could be the Great Depression, the attack on Pearl Harbor, it could be COVID. But the reality is the resilience of our city and our country, we show the whole world what we’re made of. We can’t believe it, this is an unbelievable city and trust me we are ready for a big comeback because this is New York. ”
