Angelina Jolie plays Maria Callas in Pablo Larraín’s new biopic – The Hollywood Reporter
Angelina Jolie will play the soprano Maria Callas in Pablo Larrain’s newly announced biopic.
MariaBased on true stories, will tell the tumultuous, beautiful and tragic story of the life of the world’s greatest female opera singer, reminisced and re-enacted during her final days in… Paris in the 1970s.
Written by Steven Knight (Spencer, Peaky Blinders, Eastern Promise) features produced by Juan de Dios Larraín for Fabula Pictures; Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment Pictures, a Fremantle Company; and Jonas Dornbach for Komlizen Film.
“I take my responsibility for Maria’s life and legacy very seriously. I will give everything I can to meet the challenge,” said Jolie. “Pablo Larraín is a director I have long admired. To be allowed the opportunity to tell more of Maria’s story to him, and with a script by Steven Knight, was a dream. “
