Anne Hathaway’s Devil Wears Prada Outfit at Michael Kors
Anne Hathaway mentioned her iconic Andy Sachs figure at Michael Kors’ spring 2023 show during New York Fashion Week. And she did so while sitting next to Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, nothing more and nothing less. The irony of the situation is not for anyone when the actress appears in a form reminiscent of Miranda Priestly’s fictional assistant (a role inspired by Wintour) in “Devil wears PradaIn a head-to-toe Michael Kors costume, she reinterpreted her character’s brown leather jacket and black turtleneck outfit, choosing a brown croc embossed jacket, matched with a mini skirt and top black turtleneck. Hathaway’s bangs and bun also reflects her character’s hairstyle, rounding out the déjà vu moment. She finished with a brown clutch and black Christian Louboutin shoes.
The actress tackles the viral moment in one Interview “Today” on October 13, sharing that the outfit was an “accident” and that her seating arrangement next to Anna Wintour was “kind of crazy.” Even the ponytail is a highlight of Andy Sachs’ signature look, and that connection is not lost on Hathaway. “…My hairstylist, who’s lovely and I’ve never worked with him before…… Said, ‘Oh, I know what to do. “And he threw my hair in a ponytail,” she said. “I looked in the mirror and thought, Oh, that’s funny. I wonder if anyone noticed?” Apparently, the whole world did.
Next to Hathaway and Wintour, who wore a printed black and white maxi dress with pointed animal print boots, sat Serena Williams. The tennis legend embraced the Barbiecore trend, wearing a hot pink suit that was layered over a pale pink top and finished with heels and silver jewelry. Other notable attendees include Lori Harvey, who looks sporty and cool in a gray mini dress, oversize jacket and Yankees cap; and Vanessa Hudgenswho appeared in a black jumpsuit and two-piece jacket.
Meanwhile, the catwalk explores day, evening, and power wear, similar to Fall 2022 collection. Bella Hadid sported a black bra top and asymmetrical skirt styled underneath a blazer. Paloma Elsesser walked the runway in a bright red one-shoulder dress with a slit in the center. There are also a number of sportswear staples – from tank tops to bathing suits – as well as gowns and sparkly dresses. The show’s notes captured the succinct theme: “Urban resort. Large Polish city. Combined with laid-back resort charm. Celebration of the body.” The commercial collection doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it does boast all the fashion staples Michael Kors customers will need for every occasion.
