Anthony Anderson, Hugh Dancy Join NBC’s ‘Law & Order’ Revival – The Hollywood Reporter
NBC’s Law & Order The revival is bringing back its first familiar face.
Black-ish star Anthony Anderson will reprise his role as Detective Kevin Bernard in what is being billed as the 21st season of the franchise’s premiere procedural drama. Also joining the cast as a film regular is Hugh Dancy, who will play an assistant district attorney in the film from Dick Wolf and host Rick Eid.
Anderson was the first WORRY will join the revival, which is expected to feature other former stars of the original series. Sources note Anderson has signed a one-year contract to return. It’s unclear what other stars are keeping an eye on their characters. Original WORRY features notable actors such as Steven Hill, Jerry Orbach, S. Epatha Merkerson, Sam Waterston and Jesse L. Martin.
The role that marked Anderson’s follow-up to ABC Black-ish, will return on January 4 with its final season on ABC. Anderson was a regular in the last three seasons of WORRY, when his character is a junior detective.
For Dancy, meanwhile, the role marks his return to NBC after starring on the network. Hannibal. His credits include Road and Apple’s upcoming anthology Rom. He’s the next star in Downton Abbey: A New Era, will hit theaters in March.
Anderson and Dancy join Jeffrey Donovan previously announced in WORRY revival, was picked up with a straight order in September. The updated series is slated to premiere February 24 on NBC. (Click here to read why the series isn’t Peacock’s original.)
