in the case of a Zorro reboot, Antonio Banderas knows exactly who he wants to take on this role: Dutch Tom.
In a recent interview motivated The Cat Goes Out: The Last WishBanderas said without hesitation that he would like to give the title back to the Netherlands if there is one rework, do it again.
“I did undiscovered Banderas told ComicBook. “Why not?”
Banderas explained that he wants to return to the franchise in a new movie to pass on the mask to the Netherlands, the same way that Anthony Hopkins did for him in 1998. Zorro’s mask. The film sees Hopkins’ Don Diego de la Vega handing the torch to Alejandro Murrieta of Banderas.
“I will consider that possibility, why not?” Banderas said when asked about returning for a new project in the franchise. “I said something like that to someone. I said, ‘Well, if they call me Zorro, I’ll do what Anthony Hopkins did in the first one. [for] I, [which is] give the torch to someone else.’”
This is not the first time the actor has discussed the possibility of returning to wearing a mask. Banderas told ComicBook he spoke with Quentin Tarantino about a potential cross between Zorro and Django, Jamie Foxx’s character in Tarantino’s Django Unchained.
He just came up to me, and I was like, ‘In your hand? Yes, man!’ Because Quentin is just about making those kinds of movies and giving them quality,” he explains. “Even if they were based on the B-movies of the ’60s and ’70s, he was able to take that material and do something really interesting. We’ve never worked together, but it would be great for him, for Jamie Foxx and for [playing] Zorro again when he’s a bit older. It’s going to be awesome, funny and crazy.”
