Respawn has announced Apex Legends Mobile will be coming to both Android and iOS devices later this month. The studio shared the news on Apex Legends Mobile’s official Twitter account, writing, “Legends changes the game. But they can’t do it without you. Pre-register and get ready to join.. . by the end of this month!”
Currently, an official release date has not been given. However, Respawn is encouraging players to pre-register for regular updates related to the game’s release and have a chance to play the game earlier.
While the core of Apex Legends Mobile is the same battle royale game that players know and love, Apex Legends Game director Chad Grenier says that fans can expect a few changes. According to Grenier“Apex Legends Mobile is specially designed for touch screens, with thoughtfully optimized and streamlined controls resulting in the most advanced battle royale combat available on phones. This is the new version. of Apex Legends, but it stays true to the original.”
Additionally, Apex Legends Mobile will also offer brand new battle passes, collectible cosmetics, and unlockable items for players. As a result, the mobile port will not support cross-play with the Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Switch versions of Apex Legends.
Until Apex Legends Mobile released, the only way to play Apex Legends on the go was through the Switch. In GameSpot’s Apex Legends Switch ReviewJordan Ramée writes, “Panic Button has managed to play a game I love and make it work well enough on Nintendo’s hybrid console. I don’t want to keep playing it on the Switch with so many technical concessions its (I also don’t want new players to be introduced to Apex Legends this way), but this portal – in its current state – is a suitable last resort.”
In other Apex Legends news, Respawn has released a new game trailer for Apex Legends Season 13: Saviors. In addition to new skins and enemies, the upcoming season adds Bangalore’s brother, Jackson Williams, as a new playable legend. Season 13 begins May 10.
