Apple Maps is said to offer e-bike-optimized routes. The American tech giant recently introduced a bunch of new features on Apple Maps. Apple debuted a more detailed, three-dimensional city map feature that was released with iOS 15 in Canada a few months ago. Starting this March, Apple’s Maps and Weather apps show Crimea as part of Ukraine. In 2020, Apple Maps enabled the Nearby feature in India to allow users to find nearby establishments.
According to a recent tweets via iOS App developer Steve Moser (via Tom’s Guide), Apple Maps is offering routes optimized for e-bikes. Moser discovered a few lines of code that contained the phrase ‘e-bike’ along with a feature that optimizes routes and ETAs (Estimated Time of Arrival) for those who use them. This feature is not available on Apple Maps as of now, hinting that the feature has yet to launch in the app.
Possible optimization factor reported including steeper tracks on the e-bike route. This feature is said to be an advantage that Apple Maps will have over Google Maps.
As mentioned earlier, the Apple Maps and Weather apps start showing Crimea is part of Ukraine. The change is applicable to all users outside of Russia. So far, Apple has not shown Crimea as part of any country when viewed from countries except Russia. However, the company still shows that the Black Sea peninsula is part of Russia when viewed domestically.
In March, Apple also debuted A more detailed, three-dimensional city map feature was released with iOS 15 in Canada. According to the tech giant, this will provide better driving navigation, transit directions and an augmented reality walking experience. The company announced that the new city experience will be available in Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.
