According to Bloomberg’s Mark German, Apple is likely to unveil its most powerful truly wireless earbuds at its Far out event. “Last year I reported that New AirPods Pro is coming in 2022, and now I’m told that Wednesday will be their big launch,” Gurman said in his weekly newsletter.
Since its launch, AirPods Pro have only received software-related upgrades such as support for Lossless audio or Apple’s Spatial Audio technology. Other brands such as Sony, Jabra, Samsung, and Sennheiser have all launched their own high-end models of true wireless headphones – in some cases – of their own. Apple’s new AirPods Pro may feature a new H2 chip to improve sound quality and possibly improve battery life as well.
There have been rumors of Apple changing the design of its flagship truly wireless earbuds. However, some analysts have suggested that the design for AirPods Pro should not be overhauled, but that it could be tweaked. Rumors about AirPods Pro having a Type-C charging port were also quashed by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
The upcoming AirPods Pro is also expected to bring certain sensors related to health and fitness. It’s not yet clear how they’ll work, but since it’s been three years since the AirPods Pro were upgraded, Apple may have a few new features.
