Apple WeWork Drama ‘WeCrashed’ Deepens Jared Leto’s Relationship with Funny Accents
Friends, we may be living through a Golden Age of The person listening to the letter A speaks with a funny voice. Hot on the heels of Julia Garner’s “German” Banana Voice in Netflix Recently Removed Invented Anna intro video arrive WeCrash—An Apple TV + miniseries found Jared Leto trying another monstrous drawing game.
People who watched Gucci house can recall that Leto broke a Wario-esque italian voice worry the audience. (Should we talk about those macabre allegations that underlie the actor’s cult medical image, and anyway Hollywood seems content to hire him for more and more projects? I wish we would!) In the upcoming Apple series, the actor plays WeWork founder and Israeli businessman Adam Neumann — and seems to enjoy chewing on every syllable he utters. “WeWork does not just a cohpannie,” he insisted at one point. “There’s a movement.”
Hulu explores the chaos that befell the company that collaborated with last year’s documentary WeWork: Or the making and breaking of a $47 billion unicorn. Apple’s miniseries borrows its title from the six-episode Wonder podcast that inspired it, David Brown’s WeCrashed: The Rise and Fall of WeWork. The series sees Leto and Anne Hathaway play the manly, manly couple behind one of the company’s biggest explosions in recent memory. The first three episodes will premiere on March 18.
From the looks of it, the WeWork drama pipeline hasn’t run out yet; Stephen Falk has also signed on in 2020 to host a limited series starring HeirNicholas Braun as Adam Neumann, based on a book by The Wall Street Journal reporters Eliot Brown and Maureen Farrell. (Book, The Cult of We: WeWork, Adam Neumann, and the Great Startup Delusion, released last year.) There’s still no word on whether Braun will commit to the vocals as well – but will hopefully be around forever.
