Apple’s digital car key may work with Hyundai and Genesis models this summer
Apple digital car key features may soon be useful for unlocking more than a few BMW car Models. His latest news, BloombergMark Gurman’s has stated Hyundai and its high end Genesis Badge will support Apple CarKey “in the summer.” Not sure which models will offer the option, but it’s worth noting that some trim levels of Ioniq 5 and other hyundai car includes NFC for a digital key (currently proprietary).
Although remote key control has been available on smartphones for some time, CarKey (and Android equivalent) treat the phone more like a physical key. You just need to bring your phone or Apple Watch Tap the doorknob to unlock, and you can even place your phone in a certain area to start the car. People with ultra-wideband iPhones (such as iPhone 11 and later) can even leave the phone in their pocket when opening and starting the car.
If the leak is accurate, Apple’s move could significantly expand the digital car key’s audience – you won’t need to buy from a premium brand to consider it. An agreement would also suggest controversy over a possible EV cooperation Not enough to stop Apple and Hyundai from discovering a group of CarKeys.
