Aptera driver assistance technology, Sonata 2024 design, used Tesla prices plummet: Car News Today
Used electric vehicle prices have dropped significantly, and the Tesla Model 3 leads the way. Aptera was the first company to use the open source-based Openpilot for driver assistance technology. LG plans to build a giant factory in Arizona. And Hyundai has previewed the new look of the Sonata Hybrid 2024.
Hyundai revealed the design of Love Song 2024—Combination included—and it’s not just a simple upgrade. A new faceplate is more in line with the vehicle’s aerodynamic profile, bringing and inside shifting gears at the steering column that maximizes space. The rest of the car’s details will be revealed later this week.
Aptera’s three-wheeled solar electric vehicle will be the first factory vehicle to use Openpilot driver assistance software, as well as Aptera-specific code that will enable red light and stop signs recognition as well as the “navigation on Openpilot” feature. That could serve well as a highway companion, given the company’s decision to add DC fast charging to the 400-mile Launch Edition.
LG Energy Solutions announced a $5.5 billion battery factory in Arizona— the largest battery manufacturing investment in the US, according to the company. The plant will make cylindrical cells for electric vehicles, as well as LFP bag cells linked to energy storage systems.
And while used car prices of all kinds have plummeted in recent months, Tesla Model 3 has taken the lead in used EV prices. The price of the Model 3 has dropped 21.5% since September 2022, as reported by iSeeCars—the biggest drop in a study of used car list prices. It seems to be the flip side of the spike in electric vehicle prices that reached a fever pitch in late 2021 and early 2022.
