ASHER O’HARA OF FOOTBALL HAS BEEN A NEW MALE PROBLEM OF SACRAMENTO STATE



Football’s Asher O’Hara has been named Sacramento State’s Male Rookie of the Year… the junior who was unanimously selected by the first team to the All-Big Sky Conference as a versatile player… one of two money. The defender had plenty of time for the Hornets, and led Sacramento State with 662 yards of charge and nine quick touches… also threw 899 yards and 7 touchdowns, and caught a touchdown pass in five… total plus 1,561 yards of fouls in 12 games, and dash, throw, or catch TD in every game…completed 61.5 percent of his passing effort, and finished sixth in the conference game with 61.4 yard javelin per game.

Blaize Holland (athletics) – The sophomore scored at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships in the 100, 200 and 4×100 relay… fourth in group 100 at the Big Sky meeting with a time of 10.63… The men’s 4×400 relay lead scored the ninth fastest time in school history after running 3:12.63 at the ASU Invite… at the Big Sky indoor championship, he finished fourth in 200… ran 6.83 in the final at the Lumberjack Challenge to jump to fifth all-time in Sacramento State… 200 fastest was 21.79 at the same encounter, tying him to fifth in program history.

Cesar Valero (Baseball) – One of the top power players at the Western Athletics through the first 39 games of the year before injury sidelined him for the rest of the season… 13 players year two host was one of the Hornet 10’s top season snubs, and Hornet’s most since Tim Wheeler’s 18th in 2009… ending with three games running multiple houses – Houston Baptist (3 ) and two in New Mexico State twice… reaching .297 (3rd on the team) while leading the team in runs scored (36), home runs, RBI (38) and miss rate (0.606 ).

Mate Voros (Tennis) – The first team to perform the entire Big Sky Conference in doubles… teamed up with Mark Keki to become one of the top doubles teams in the show’s history… won 20-1 in doubles (all 1st place in the lineup)… 20 wins was a record for the show… and at the same time ended the season in 73rd place nationally, becoming the doubles team ranked fourth in the show’s history… Voros won 11 straight doubles to start the season… also won eight singles matches, mostly in 2nd place on the roster.

Jhared Willcot (Soccer) – A Big West Conference freshman whole-team selection after appearing in 16 of the team’s 18 games in his first season with the Hornets… has been completed. with one goal and two assists, finding his own own goal at San Jose State for the first time in just the third appearance of his career… more helpers in the win over UC Irvine and regular season finals against Causeway’s UC Davis… started the season to the top before moving to backline Hornet, playing for 90 minutes or more in half of his 16 appearances.
