Asia-Pacific markets slide after Japan’s central bank unexpectedly adjusts bond yields
Japan -2.46%. BOJ kept policy unchanged as expected. Japan’s finance minister Suzuki said no decision had been made on amending the BOJ’s agreement.
China -1.02%. China keeps LPR stable in the 4th month in the context of the economy struggling because of COVID.
The World Bank has cut China GDP forecast in 2023 to 4.3% (from 4.5%).
Hong Kong -1.66%.
Australia -1.54%. Australian Consumer Confidence weekly was 82.5 (previously 82.9).
India -1.04%.
Overnight on Wall Street, the major US indexes are ending lower for a fourth straight day. The drop was led by the NASDAQ index falling -1.49%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell -162.94 points to -0.49% at 32757.55. S&P 500 -34.70 or -0.90% at 3817.65. The Nasdaq Composite fell -1593.37 points or -1.49% to 10546.04.
New Zealand December Business Confidence -70.2 (previously 57.1).
US crude oil rose 0.41% to $75.5 per barrel. Brent crude oil rose to 79.87 USD/barrel.
Spot gold was slightly higher at $1,790.83 an ounce.
