Assassin’s Creed Infinity: Everything we know about Ubisoft’s upcoming service game

Reportedly rumored before being confirmed in a Ubisoft blog post, Assassin’s Creed Infinity is a multi-game service game in a bundle coming soon. It’s a big departure for the Assassin’s Creed franchise, largely a series of individual games that explore much of a single location and setting. Below, we’ve rounded up everything we know about Infinity as we dive in Summer Game Festival and all Summer Event Not-E3.

Given Infinity’s early development, we don’t know much about the game other than which studio is behind it and what Ubisoft hopes this game will one day become. But, honestly, as long as Ubisoft takes my advice that Assassin’s Creed will be smaller with future settingsI’ll be happy with whatever it looks like.

Now playing: Assassin’s Creed Infinity sounds horrible

Release date

We still don’t know when Infinity will launch. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier said that Infinity won’t release until 2024 at The earliest. With Ubisoft often revealing a new Assassin’s Creed game the year before or when it’s released, that means we may not learn anything new about Infinity until 2023.

If we know anything official about Assassin’s Creed this summer, we’re more likely to get news about it. Smaller scale Assassin’s Creed game about Basim Ibn Ishaq of Valhalla, which is supposed to bring the series back to its more social roots than relying on stealth mechanics. With reports pointing to a release date as early as this year, it is expected to come first.

What we know

Infinity is the current placeholder name for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed game that will feature multiple languages and historical periods and evolve over time. Multiple games are being bundled together, with the possibility that each will play differently and use its own unique mechanics and settings.

[Assassin’s Creed Infinity] will not be a free game [game]“Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in October 2021.” This game will have a lot of narrative elements in it. It’s going to be a very innovative game, but it’s going to have what players have had in all the other Assassin’s Creed games, all the elements they’ve come to love… from the start. So it’s going to be a big game. But with a lot of elements that already exist in games that we have published in the past. “

In Assassin's Creed Unity, we can see that Abstergo has developed his own variant for Assassin's Creed Infinity called Helix.
In Assassin’s Creed Unity, we can see that Abstergo has developed his own variant for Assassin’s Creed Infinity called Helix.

Infinity is being developed under a new cross-studio structure between Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec. Regarding Assassin’s Creed, Montreal has previously worked on the original game, II, Brotherhood, Revelations, III, IV: Black Flag, Unity, Origins and Valhalla. Quebec, meanwhile, worked on the Syndicate and the Odyssey.

It should also be noted, Assassin’s Creed Narrative Director Darby McDevitt Returns to Ubisoft in November 2021. The writer has been instrumental in shaping the lore behind the long-running series, and so he’ll probably be tapped to work in Infinity. However, neither Ubisoft nor McDevitt confirmed that was the case.

Communication

Ubisoft has yet to announce a launch platform for Infinity. Since it is supposed to launch in 2024 or later, it will most likely skip the Xbox One, PS4, and Switch. We assume the game will launch for Xbox Series X | S, PS5 and PC.

PC System Specifications

We still don’t know the PC system specs for Infinity.

Intro

Ubisoft hasn’t released any gameplay or cinematic trailers for Infinity yet, which makes sense given how far away the game is supposed to be.

Multiplayer Insights

We still don’t know if Infinity will feature a multiplayer mode, but it’s possible that Assassin’s Creed has dipped its toe into online multiplayer in two different ways before, and both are excellent. sharp.

The method was first introduced in the Brotherhood and repeated in Revelations, III and IV: Black Flag. This is a competitive multiplayer mode in which you can complete objectives or kill other players, while doing your best to pretend to be a typical NPC in a crowd and avoid getting knocked down. .

With Unity, Assassin’s Creed arrived in cooperative multiplayer. This mode sees you and up to three friends need to complete difficult assassination or raid missions, working together to complete missions as quickly and stealthily as possible – doing well will Unlock new weapons and armor pieces to further specialize your character in both single player campaigns and multiplayer modes.

Given the popularity of both multiplayer modes, we could see one (or both) make a return in Infinity. But maybe that’s just our wishful thinking.

DLC / Microtransaction Details

Ubisoft hasn’t announced whether Infinity will include DLC but as a service game it will likely evolve over time with post-launch expansions of some sort. Microtransactions have also been a big part of Assassin’s Creed since 2017’s Origins, with Ubisoft selling cosmetics and increasing XP in the in-game store in every game since, so there’s a reason that Infinity there will likely be something similar.

Pre-order details

Infinity is not yet available for pre-order.
