Atelier Sophie 2 has a fancy new trailer and battle details

Switch owners have been treated well when it comes to Koei Tecmo’s Atelier ‘Mystery’ series, with many entries and packages arriving on the system. One of the most fascinating things is Atelier Mysterious Trilogy Deluxe Packagethat we mentioned in a review include Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Book of Mysteries DX; In just one month, there will be a brand new entry to join. On February 25th, we received Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of Magical Dreams on Switch, it will also be on PC and PlayStation 4.

Koei Tecmo has released a new story trailer that you can watch at the top of the page, which is sure to continue on about sensibly pursuing dreams. In any case, it feels like a step up from the series, and it will also feature a new battle system to modernize the gameplay; Some details of that are below.

Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of Magical Dreams features an instant-start combat system without any load times or separate screens, allowing gameplay to flow seamlessly between exploration and combat. In this new battle system, up to six party members can join forces for “multi-link turn-based battles”. These party members will be divided into two teams; The “shock team” consists of 3 members in the front and the “backup team” has 3 members in the back.

One of the abilities this new combat system introduces is Twin Actions. Here, the front row and back row can choose to attack together, or let the front row move first while the back row recovers and gains points. This skill uses less MP than performing individual attacks, giving the player the opportunity to deal more damage to their enemies in battle. Alternatively, the player can use the Support Guard action which allows a member in the back row to protect a member in the front row before they are being attacked. Since members in the front and back rows can be switched freely, it is important to keep track of each member’s HP and use these abilities at the right times. To use the Twin Actions and Support Guardian skills, Technical Points (TPs) are required. Once the Dual Gauge reaches 100%, the Dual Trigger – a special move in which two party members together unleash a powerful ability – can be activated to gain the upper hand in battle.

Some enemies Sophie and her teammates encounter will be covered in an aura, and these monsters will be harder to damage, dealing a large amount of damage to the party. By attacking a monster’s aura with an element it is weak against, the aura is reduced and stuns the monster, allowing Sophie and friends to perform more consecutive actions than usual. In some battles, Weather Control can also be used in battle to create favorable situations that weaken the monster’s aura.

It looks like this could be an exciting new entry to the franchise – are you going to pick it up?
