Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix Match Schedule 2023

The weather this weekend is meant to be bad, but things are about to get hot in Albert Park.

Held at the Albert Park track in Melbourne, fans can enjoy four action-packed days starting today.

Red Bull racing has dominated so far in 2023, with Max Verstappen winning his first race of the year against teammate Sergio Perez in Bahrain, and the pair reversed that order two weeks ago in Saudi Arabia.

Red Bull has not been on the podium in Melbourne since 2011. Last year, Charles Leclerc won the race for Ferrari. Stallions have won three of the last four Australian GPs.

Daniel Riccardo fans won’t see him on track this year but can support fellow Australian, Oscar Piastri, who has replaced him at McLaren.

Changes to the track layout for 2022 will be carried over to 2023, designed to deliver faster racing and more overtaking.

New to this year’s race, which only appeared in two practice sessions last year, will be the fourth DRS zone.

Albert Park is the only track in the F1 calendar with more than three DRS-enabled zones, intended to help drivers easily navigate the fast-moving Albert Park circuit.

If you haven’t fully understood the F1 lingo, the DRS zone allows drivers to take advantage of the drag-reduction system when they are within a second of the vehicle ahead.

When activated, it opens a rear flap and assists the driver in overtaking by reducing drag to increase the vehicle’s top speed.

Drivers will hit 340 km/h on the 5.3 km track, with this year billed as “the fastest race in Melbourne ever” according to Australian Grand Prix CEO Andrew Westacott.

This year’s Australian Grand Prix events start on March 30 and end on April 2, with the big race at 3pm on Sunday.
