Avatar Sequel To Avoid “Stranger Things Effect” – The Hollywood Reporter

James Cameron is well aware that his projects are not the only ones dealing with child actors’ changes in appearance over the years.

In recent times Weekly entertainment interview, the filmmaker provided more context for his decision to shoot the recently released sequel Avatar: The Road of Water at the same time as the third installment of the series, slated for release in 2024, and part of the fourth film, due to the massive growth of young actors that could change their outlook. For example, actor Jack Champion, who played Spider in the movie, was 13 years old when water path started shooting but it’s 18 now.

“Otherwise, you get – and I love Strange things – but you get Strange things effect where they are said to be still in high school [but] they look like they’re 27 years old,” Cameron explained. “You know, I love the show. It’s okay, we’ll pause the skepticism. We like the characters, but, you know.”

In a recent interview with Hollywood Reporter, Champion praised the relationship he had formed with Cameron during their four and a half years of filming. “He’s just a movie genius,” Champion said. “After so many years, he has become a father figure to me.”

In a later interview with CHEAPChampion said he was watching water path can feel like a “time capsule” because he’s grown up in front of the camera: “It’s great to see my teenage years on screen, but I can still be immersed in the world of Pandora.”
