Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan pardoned by BCB, made captain in T20Is until T20 World Cup
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has chosen Shakib Al Hasan as the new captain of T20I, the Bangladeshi press reported on Saturday, August 13. The all-powerful player will take over, at least until the T20 World Cup from Nurul Hasan, who once led the army in the Zimbabwe series, in early August.
BCB officials had a meeting with the team’s most senior and recognizable cricketer from Bangladesh,
Shakib has been given the captain’s armband to a rising team of all forms in world cricket.
“Shakib al Hasan is the captain until the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup,” BCB Cricket Executive Chairman Jalal Yunus said after the meeting.
Shakib himself has had a long relationship with BCB after causing a lot of controversy over the past year. Most recently signed an agreement with a news platform owned by a gambling company from a Dutch Caribbean island.
“He admitted that he made a mistake (signed to Betwinner News) and he said it wouldn’t make any more mistakes and we’re hopeful,'” Yunus said.
Bangladesh will be hoping for a quick change with the World Cup just a few months away. They had a miserable campaign in the UAE last time and hope not to repeat the same mistakes.
